Weekly Summary Nov 17th - 21st

I hope that everyone have a great weekend. This week the cadets will be required to learn Platoon Drill and Ceremony movements, Uniform Inspection and Physical Fitness training. The PHS JROTC Instructors are very excited to continue with your education and we are looking for ways to assist cadets that need help in JROTC or with other classes. Last, the AJROTC battalion staff will prepare for JROTC Accreditation Program (JPA).

Listed below is the schedule for the week of Nov 17th – Nov 21st  

Monday – Drill and Ceremony (All)
Essential Question: What are stationary movements, Squad and Company Drills?  What is the purpose of Drill?

Tuesday – Causes of Conflict (LET 1) and Critical Decisions about Substances (Interactive Nights Out) (LET 2)
Essential Question: What causes conflict to impact relations? What types of conflict are there? How can you improve communication? What should a substance abuse prevention program do?
 
Wednesday – Causes of Conflict / Finding Solutions (LET 1) and Use and Effects of Drugs, Alcohol, and Substances (LET 2)
Essential Question: How can we manage conflict and behavior to help keep health relationships? How do you say no to substances like alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drugs?

Thursday – Uniform Class (ALL)
Essential Question: Do cadets know how to wear the Army uniform?

Friday – Physical Fitness (All)
Essential Question: Do cadets know how to choose the correct exercise program?

Weekly Summary: Nov. 10 - 14


I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I would like to thank everyone that helped with the Football Game on Friday and Harmony Leland Fall Festival on Saturday. The PHS JROTC Instructors are very excited to continue with your education and we are looking for ways to assist all cadets that need help in JROTC or with other classes. Last, the AJROTC battalion staff will continue to prepare for the JROTC Program for Accreditation (JPA). 

Monday – Learning Styles and Preferences (LET 1) and Our Natural Rights (LET 2)
Essential Question – What is the difference between learning and experiencing? What would life be like in a state of nature? How does government secure your natural rights?  

TuesdayVeterans Day Parade (Select Group) – Drill and ceremony (All)
Essential Question – Why do Americans honor Veterans? What are stationary movements and how are they used during drill? What are squad / company formations and how are they formed?
Competency – Cadets will honor veterans by participating in Veterans Day Parade. Cadets will demonstrate correct stationary movements. Cadets will demonstrate correct response to squad / company drill commands.

Wednesday – Appreciating Diversity through Winning Colors / Leadership Defined (LET 1) and Causes of Conflict (LET 2)
Essential Question – How do you discover more about personal preferences?  What are leadership behaviors and how can you identify them in yourself and others? What causes conflict to impact relationships? What types of conflict are there? How can you improve communication?

Thursday – Uniform Inspection (All)
Essential Question Do cadets know how to demonstrate the proper wear of the uniform for cadet appearance?

Friday – Physical Training (All)
Essential Question – How can JROTC cadets choose the right exercise program for them?

Monday – Personal Growth Plan (LET 1) and Creating Our Constitution (LET 2)
Essential Question – Can students match the emotional skills to the relevant skill dimensions? What role did the Philadelphia Convention and the Virginia Plan play in the creation of the Constitution?

Essential Question – Can students match the emotional skills to the relevant skill dimensions? What are leadership behaviors and how can you identify them in yourself and others? What powers were granted to the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of government result?

Essential Question Do cadets know how to demonstrate the proper wear of the uniform for cadet appearance?

Friday – Physical Training (All)
Essential Question – How can JROTC cadets choose the right exercise program for them?

TuesdayMilitary Alphabet & Military Time (LET 1) / Preparing to Teach (LET 2) / Tuskegee Airmen Video (1st Period Cadets)
Essential Question Do cadets know the difference between military time and regular time?  Can cadets recite the military alphabet & military time in order? What was the mission of the Tuskegee Airmen? 

Wednesday Common Assessment / Cadet Portfolios (LET 1) / Articles of Confederation 1781 (LET 2)
Essential Question – What study skills and test-taking strategies can cadets learn to enhance their performance as a learner? What can you use a Career Development Portfolio for and what does it consist of?  Why did the founders want to change the Articles of Confederation of 1781?

Essential Question: Do the cadets know what good leadership is? How does the representative group process support The Preamble of the United Constitution?

Essential Question: Do cadets know how to wear the Army uniform?

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I would like to thank everyone that made the Applebee’s Fundraiser on Saturday a success. I hope that everyone is ready to continue to learn. The PHS JROTC Instructors are very excited to continue with your education and we are looking for ways to assist all cadets that need help in JROTC or with other classes. Monday – Cadet Portfolios / Student Reflections (All) / Citizenship Skills (LET 2)
Essential Question – What can you use a Career Development Portfolio for and what does it consist of? Why are student reflections important? What are the citizenship skills and how are they represented in the Preamble of the Constitution? 

Tuesday – Setting Financial Goals (LET 1) / Quiz / Cadet Portfolios (LET 2)
Essential Question – How can I plan to meet future financial goals? What study skills and test-taking strategies can cadets learn to enhance their performance as a learner? What can you use a Career Development Portfolio for and what does it consist of?              

Wednesday – Drill and Ceremony (All)
Essential Question – What are stationary movements and how are they used during drill? What are squad / platoon formations and how are they formed? 

Thursday – Uniform Inspection (All)

Tuesday – Sexual Harassment /Assault (LET 1) and Cold Weather Injuries (LET 2)
Essential Question: What are the causes and consequences of sexual harassment? What can you do to prevent and / or stop sexual harassment and assault? How can cold weather injuries be treated and prevented?

Wednesday – Orientation to Service Learning (LET 1) and The Preamble (LET 2)
Essential Question: Do cadets know the components of Service Learning?  Do cadets know the difference between Service Learning and Community Service? What is the Preamble and how does it define the mission of the United States Constitution?

Thursday – Uniform Class (ALL)
Essential Question: Do cadets know how to wear the Army uniform?
